Ignite Facilities Support Gas Safety Week

Ignite Facilities is supporting the Gas Safety Register’s annual Gas Safety Week awareness campaign which takes place between 16th and 22nd September 2019.

Gas Safety Week provides a platform for the gas industry, consumer organisations and individuals and focuses on communication about gas safety in one week, generating interest in the media and having a greater impact among the public.
As a Gas Safe Registered Firm, Ignite Facilities are passionate about promoting safe practice when it comes to working with gas.

What is a Gas Safe Engineer?

Being a Gas Safe Engineer means that our engineers are part of the UK’s official gas registration body which lists businesses and engineers legally authorised to install and work on gas appliances.
Just like a driver needs to be tested and licensed by the DVLA before they can legally drive, an engineer needs to be trained and approved by Gas Safe before they can work with gas.
Ignite Facilities’ gas engineers have years of experience helping homes and businesses across Newcastle under Lyme plus the rest of Staffordshire and Cheshire.
We will make the best decision for your heating requirements making sure your heating appliances run smoothly and efficiently all year round thanks to our fantastic workmanship and service.

Understanding the Gas Safe Register

The Gas Safe Register protects homeowners, tenants and business’ customers from the dangers of incompetent gas work. The process involves investigating reports of illegal or suspect gas work and pass the information to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and from here they can prosecute businesses or individuals found to have carried out illegal gas work.
Recent research from Gas Safe has revealed more than a million UK homes are put at risk every year by illegal gas fitters and unsafe work. Another statistic found that 1 in 5 gas appliances are found to be dangerous including over 186,000 gas cookers, 147,000 boilers, 75,000 gas fires, 32,000 gas meters and 645,000 examples of unsafe gas pipework. They also discovered that a small number of homeowners check whether their engineer is Gas Safe registered.
